Two Lucky Individuals To Win ‘Dream’ Motorcycles Created by Award-Winning PB Choppers During Year-long Fundraising Event
Las Vegas (March 10, 2006) – In an effort to raise money for children’s charitable causes across the country, PB Choppers of Moravia, Iowa, is building two custom motorcycles for Speedway Children’s Charities – one to be raffled and another to be sold during an on-line auction later this year.
The first custom chopper was unveiled today at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in conjunction with the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400, where fans now have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets.
For the on-line auction, PB Choppers will team up with renowned NASCAR artist Sam Bass for a race-inspired motorcycle that will be unveiled May 19 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway during activities for NASCAR’s All-Star weekend in Concord, N.C. The auction will take place Sept. 1-15, with additional details to be announced at a later date.
“Many of us may not know where Moravia, Iowa, is today, but I promise you that once fans across the country get a look at these motorcycles, they’ll know all about PB Choppers,” said General (Ret.) Thomas Sadler, Speedway Children’s Charities Executive Director. “This bike will roll out of here carrying a message of hope and promise for children in need everywhere.”
Following this weekend’s events at LVMS, the first of the two custom choppers will travel to NEXTEL Cup races at Speedway Motorsports properties in Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, North Carolina and California. Fans will have the opportunity to view the bike and purchase raffle tickets for $5 each. The drawing will be held Nov. 5 when NASCAR makes its second visit of the year to Texas Motor Speedway.
“We wanted to create a ‘wow’ bike that had show-stopping characteristics including a show-chrome transmission, dressed-up wheels, incredible horsepower and a blow-your-mind color scheme,” said Jim Wubben, who owns PB Choppers with his son Shaun.
In addition to the modern design of the bike, the gas tank will be autographed by Cup Series drivers, significantly increasing the chopper’s value and collectability.
"The Wubbens have designed bikes worth winning,” said Bruton Smith, chairman and CEO of Speedway Motorsports, Inc. and Sonic Automotive. “This raffle and on-line auction provide us with a win-win situation for everyone. Not only will two lucky individuals ride off on custom choppers, children around the country will benefit from the proceeds raised by generous race fans.”
